Search Engine Optimization

What does SEO mean, what does it do and why do you need it?

I just found out myself, so here's what I've learned in the past 2 weeks.

Having a website and everything else is pretty much pointless unless you have filled out keywords, meta-tags and other time-consuming and groan-inducing descriptions so that Google can FIND said website.

Now, the only reasons I can see that SEO might not matter to you are if :

 1) You only need a few customers -- all of whom can be directed to your website using your business cards.

2) You don't have and don't care to have any online presence.

SEO basically means that search engines will pull words off your website in order to put you in the list of possible candidates every time someone searches terms relevant to what you do. If you haven't set this up, search engines won't find you hardly at all. Optimization refers to actually ensuring that not only will Google find your site, it will rank it higher up in the results--read this as John Doe actually seeing your website since it's listed on the first page of results...or not seeing it at all, since John never reads more than the first page.

Now that you know you want SEO, what are we going to do about it?

Well, you have two options. I'm no self-avowed professional, but I'm always learning and researching and teaching myself to do something, so I've got a handle on the basic concepts. I can put something together inexpensively but effectively. My efforts are what is guaranteeing this website of ours is being 'optimized' in search engines at the moment.

The second option is still to let us handle it--but if you're ok with the expense, we will find you a real professional who specializes in SEO. We are your liaison...your network. If you don't have the time or desire to google, research, compare and communicate with several possible candidates for the job, that's where we come in. We do this every day. Personally and professionally...we are researchers. We have contacts. We know who to call.

That's why you should call us first. We already know who to call.
